About Us
The Pierce County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO is the voice of organized labor in Pierce County. Founded in 1890 as the Tacoma Trades Council, we now bring together 114 affiliated unions representing more than 44,000 working people across our region.
As one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils chartered by the AFL-CIO, we serve as a democratic hub where unions come together to organize, advocate, educate, and build solidarity across industries and communities. Through delegate-driven action, political education, community partnerships, and worker organizing, we fight for good jobs, safe workplaces, strong public services, economic justice, and dignity for all working people.
