Alice Phillips

Alice Phillips (she/her) serves as the President of the Pierce County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO and is a proud member of IBEW Local 483. A retired City of Tacoma worker, Alice brings 40 years of labor movement experience and a lifetime of leadership dedicated to advancing worker rights, strengthening unions, and mentoring the next generation of labor activists.

Alice began her union involvement as a shop steward and went on to hold nearly every major leadership role within her local, including Executive Board Member, Vice President, President, Organizer, Union Representative, Assistant Business Manager, and Business Manager. She made history as the first woman to serve in several of these positions and concluded her career as the longest-serving Business Manager of IBEW Local 483, holding the role for 30 years. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to representation, persistence, and breaking barriers for women in the trades. In addition to her labor work, Alice contributes to education and workforce development through her service on the Clover Park Board of Trustees.

Born in Germany and raised in the United States, Alice remains active and engaged in retirement. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, cheering on women’s hockey, and challenging herself through ultramarathon running, regularly completing distances of 50 kilometers or more.
