Our Statement Regarding Dominic Foppoli - He Must Go!
The North Bay Labor Council joins the strong and steady chorus of organizations and individuals calling for the resignation of Dominic Foppoli and standing with the brave women who have come forward to tell their stories.
The NBLC has always stood for the right of people to feel – and be – safe at work, in their homes and in the public. Some of these accounts involved women working for Foppoli and sadly, all too often, women face this kind of treatment at work. In light of this, we believe it is imperative for an organization such as ours to come out powerfully against this disgusting and deeply harmful treatment of women.
There is no place for any of this among decent people. That said, the fact that this is an elected official, entrusted by those who elected him to protect their town and fight for their rights, is both painful and unforgiveable.
Since Mr. Foppoli has made it clear, he will not resign and appears to be without remorse for the pain these accusations have caused, we will be joining the effort to recall him. No one is above the law and everyone should be held accountable.
We understand that in this country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, as has been said many times, the accounts made by these brave women are just too clear, too consistent as to be indicative of a pattern that matches the profile of a sexual predator and simply cannot be ignored.
In light of these recent developments, the fact that Mr. Foppoli seems to care so little for the town of Windsor and the community as a whole, that he will not do the right thing and step aside so the community can attempt to assume some sense of normalcy, he must and will be removed. We invite all people of good conscience to join the campaign to recall Dominic Foppoli.
The North Bay Labor Council will always stand for the right of everyone to be safe, for social justice to be realized, and for the values that empower us, as a people, to care for and protect each other.
