Apprenticeships are Under Attack

You've probably heard us talk about our apprenticeship programs. How the North Bay TIP (Trades Introduction Program) trains men and woman for careers that pay a family sustaining wage. And one of the best parts is these apprentices earn a wage while they learn.

We received the message below from Working America. It's no secret this administration is no friend to Labor and here's just another example of that.

Please read the message below and act so these important programs will continue to change lives.

Working America

Working America needs your help. The Department of Labor just released a proposal that could decimate training and labor standards in registered apprenticeship programs across the country, and we only have a few weeks to stop it. Tell the Department of Labor: Hands off apprenticeships!

Apprenticeships are key pathways to stable jobs, training workers for highly skilled positions while paying living wages and providing health care. This new proposal would drive down standards for the world-class apprenticeship programs that working families and industries depend on. It would jeopardize not only good jobs, but crucial safety standards in industries like construction. Watering down these programs is an attack on workers and would undercut the program benefits that have helped so many get ahead.

Right now, the Department of Labor is asking the public for feedback on this dangerously misguided proposal. We have to let them know that working people won’t stand for this. Help save apprenticeships:
