The following message from Michael Allen came with this notice of Robert (Skip) Robinson's celebration of life.

"Skip Robinson was a good friend of labor, he spent much time and energy collaborating with Labor Unions and Employers in the 80’s and 90’s to find ways to control, or a least moderate escalating medical insurance costs, as well as ensuring the quality of services. "

Please join us to celebrate the life of our beloved Dad, Robert P. (Skip) Robinson. We are planning two events, hoping that will mirror his ethos of community inclusion. We hope that you will be able to attend at least one. Please share this announcement with others in his community. Thank you.

First, on Wednesday, May 22, from 1 to 3 pm, there will be a celebration of his life and dessert reception co-hosted by Sonoma State University’s Psychology Department in Rohnert Park. This will take place in Overlook Student Center Restaurant, 3rd floor, next to the Ballroom. Please click this link to RSVP.  Thank you.

SSU Map and Parking info: The lot has a machine for paying for parking $8/car. Consider a carpool or bus. Once on campus, the venue is in the Student Center. There should be signs to direct you.

Second, in keeping with some of Dad’s favorite childhood memories, we will offer an outdoor service and catered lunch on Saturday, May 25th from 11 am to 2 pm in Crow Canyon Gardens, 105 Park Place (San Ramon). To RSVP, please click this linkThis is a community garden where we have walked and celebrated with him in the past. Casual dress is welcome. Limited bench seating will be available. Lawn chairs or blankets are welcome, too. If you wish to bring your own meal appropriate to your special needs, please feel free to do so.

Please RSVP to mssarahrobinson@gmail.com by May 20th (or for the San Ramon event, you may RSVP byclicking here) letting us know which event you will be attending. Below are more details on our important fragrance-free request and contributions in Skip’s memory.

SPECIAL REQUEST: We have several close family members and friends who are extremely sensitive to fragrances, most especially Skip’s son and our brother Jon. In order that they may be able to participate fully in these events, we are asking that other guests do their best to be as fragrance-free as possible that day. Please read the details below to understand our request. Thank you so much.

 Fragrance-Free Request

Due to Jon's extreme chemical sensitivity, we ask that you pay close attention to being fragrance-free at both Memorial Services. We are striving to protect him and others from weeks of health consequences. For those of us who don't have this challenge, it’s easy to overlook how many products have a scent -- from hand soap, to body lotion, to deodorant, to shampoo, to laundry detergent, to dryer sheets. Please do not wear perfume or cologne, do not bring flowers, and do your best to avoid health, beauty, and household products with a fragrance.

We want everyone to feel welcome so we simply ask that you do your best. We have come up with an easy plan to help Jon navigate his exposure. We will have name tags at both memorial services.  When you sign in, there will be someone there who may perform a “sniff test.” If fragrances are detected, we will put a colored dot on your name tag, that Jon will be able to see and manage his exposure. We will also have scent-free wipes available to deal with local hand soap issues. If you'd like to confer with Jon on these issues, he is very happy to answer questions. Contact him at jon@chakra5.com  Thank you for your assistance and understanding. If you are lucky enough not to have these sensitivities, we thank you for taking whatever precautions you can. What is MOST important is that you come!!

 Contributions in Skip's Memory

If you feel called to make a contribution in Skip's memory, the most pressing and precious gift would be to help defray his daughter Amy's cancer treatment costs.  Amy is facing several rare forms of cancer, which she explains on her GoFundMe page.  Link to Amy's GoFundMe Page   If you prefer to make a donation by mail or in person, please contact the family at mssarahrobinson@gmail.com or Amy@sweethomenm.com

With love and gratitude for the unique way his life touched yours and ours,

Daughter Sarah, Daughter Amy, Son Jon, and Son-in-Law Paul
