After over two decades as a prominent labor leader and Democratic Party operative in Florida, Andy Madtes transitioned from his roles as AFSCME Florida Executive Director and South Florida Central Labor Council President to head the Florida branch of Metropolitan Public Strategies.
In his capacity as Executive Director of AFSCME Florida, the state's largest public-sector union representing 110,000 workers, and as President of the South Florida Central Labor Council, which represents 150,000 active and retired workers in Miami and surrounding counties, Andy led numerous organizing and political campaigns across various trades and public sector unions statewide.
Andy Madtes is currently the President of the Broward AFL-CIO, representing 96,000 union members and households in Broward County, and serves as a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 769. He is also an Executive Board member of the Florida AFL-CIO and the Secretary/Treasurer of the Broward Democratic Party.
Throughout his tenure, Andy has been celebrated for his relentless advocacy for labor rights and his adept negotiation skills, securing favorable contracts with major corporations like Hilton Hotels and Starwood International.
