GOTV Canvassing Rally Gallery

On Saturday, October 17th, the Allegheny County Labor Council hosted a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Canvassing Rally. International Representatives, Elected Officials, including Senator Bob Casey came out to the event to show their support. Local union members volunteered their time to make calls and go on neighborhood walks in hopes to bring home a victory on November 3rd.

The Trump Administration has been fighting American workers since first taking office.

This Administration has Failed Workers and Employers During this Pandemic

The Trump Administration has failed to protect the health and safety of workers. This also negatively impacts businesses and the economy.

Denying Unemployment Insurance for those at Unsafe Jos

The Trump Administration Department of Labor allowed states to deny unemployment insurance benefits to workers that refused to return to unsafe jobs during the pandemic.

Sisters and Brothers—

This is the most critical election of our lifetime, and we live in the most crucial state in this election. You cannot afford to sit this one out. Attend the labor walks listed and make phone calls to get your fellow union members out and in support of Joe Biden and all of our great Pro-Labor Candidates across the commonwealth!

Decreased Workplace Safety

Amid a pandemic the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, under the Trump Administration has been widely criticized for its treatment of workers.

From the time you request a mail-in ballot to the time your completed ballot is returned you can keep track of it here. If you have not completed and returned your ballot yet you have many options to cast your vote over the next five days.

Workers Have Been Denied Bargaining Power

The Protecting the Right to Organize Act, or PRO Act, allows information on how to join a union to be freely distributed, it eliminates the ability for workers to be fired for trying to organize, and it provides protections for workers that would otherwise be on their own in an emergency. The current Presidential Administration has released a statement vowing they would veto the PRO Act after the bill passed in the House of Representatives.

Covering Up Workplace Injuries

Joe Biden has said OSHA is not doing enough to protect workers. He is right

During previous administrations, OSHA has provided transparent and accurate information about workplace injuries. The Trump Administration has repealed the rules that demand businesses share this information.

“Union has always been there, it has always been part of my life,” said Roxanne Pauline. She has been with IATSE Local 329 for the past four years. Her first Union job was with UFCW Keystone 1776.

“We all work together,” Roxanne said, “that’s what solidarity is all about. We are all the same, we are all one.” If there has ever been a time to remember this, it is now, amid a pandemic and the most politically divided Nation in recent History.
