Cancelled - Workers Memorial Ceremony 2020
" title="">"Mourn the dead and Fight for the living!"
The Spokane Regional Labor Council regretfully has cancelled our 31st annual Worker’s Memorial Ceremony in line with our principles of health and safety first!
The ceremony was to honor those workers who died in 2019 due to workplace illness or injury and remind ourselves of all that still needs to be done to ensure safety in the workplace. Each year thousands of workers are killed and millions more suffer injury or illness because of their jobs. We recommit to defending the right of every worker to a safe job and will endeavor until that promise is fulfilled.
More than four decades ago, Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), promising every worker the right to a safe job. Unions and our allies have fought hard to make that promise a reality - winning protections that have made jobs safer and saved lives. But our work is not done until every worker can go to their job with confidence they will return safely to their families.
