On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, the Pierce County Central Labor Council honors the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people who have lost their lives by violence, hatred, and neglect. This day calls us to mourn the lives lost and to commit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for justice, dignity, and safety for all workers.

Transgender people, especially Black and Brown trans women, face some of the highest rates of discrimination, harassment, and economic insecurity in our workplaces and communities. These injustices are not isolated—they are symptoms of the same systems that exploit working people and divide us from one another.

Solidarity is a promise to fight for every worker’s right to live and work free from fear. It means standing together to ensure that our unions, our contracts, and our communities protect and affirm trans people in every space.

Today, we recommit to building a labor movement grounded in equity—one where all working people, regardless of gender identity or expression, have the power, protection, and respect they deserve.

In solidarity,
Pierce County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO
