Labor Essay Scholarship Deadline Extended
The 2021 essay topic is: Diversity, Equality, Civil rights and the Labor Union movement
Essays should include:
- A general history on the connection between labor unions and the civil rights movement.
- How inclusion and biases have been used in the workplace (race, ethnicity, gender, etc.)
- The Civil Rights movement and labor unions' importance to each other
- What more needs to be done on these issues?
Essays may also include any relevant personal, family, or community stories related to the topic.
We will award at least two scholarships of $500 to students who write and submit the best essays on this year's topic.
Essays should be no longer than 3 typed pages. The deadline for submitting essays is May 1st. Winners will be notified by May 19th. Winners are requested to attend an award ceremony to recognize their achievement on Wednesday, May 26th. (Virtual or in-person award ceremony TBD)
