The Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly presented their annual awards at their Holiday banquet on December 6. Receiving the "Ronn Morehead Service to Labor" award were John Penn (LIUNA 362) and Adam Heenan (The Newspaper Guild/Communications Workers of America Local 4071).
With higher education workers organizing, the "2442 Labor Militancy Award" went to two Illinois Federation of Teachers locals. The award is named in honor of Normal Fire Fighters Local 2442, which endured 42 days in jail during their 1978 recognition strike. The Heartland Adjunct Faculty Association (HAFA) negotiated a new contract this year. Illinois State University faculty successfully organized this year, with Illinois Federation of Teacher Local 4100.
