The Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly presented their annual awards at their Holiday banquet on December 6. With higher education workers organizing, the "2442 Labor Militancy Award" went to two Illinois Federation of Teachers locals. The award is named in honor of Normal Fire Fighters Local 2442, which endured 42 days in jail during their 1978 recognition strike. The Heartland Adjunct Faculty Association (HAFA) negotiated a new contract this year.
