Bloomington Labor Day Parade - Labor Voices - Labor Votes - marches September 2
The 2024 Bloomington Labor Day Parade is the community’s largest parade. The parade theme this year is “Labor Voices – Labor Votes.”
The parade features union marching units, heavy construction equipment, community organizations, high school bands, the Illinois State University’s “Big Red Marching Machine” and elected officials plus candidates.
WJBC is taking nominations for their "Laborer of the Year," who will ride at the Parade's front. Community active union members are the prime nominees. Send your nominations to https://shorturl.at/BE5XO by August 23.
The Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 2, at Front and Center Streets in downtown Bloomington, proceeding to Miller Park. Parade line-up is at 9 a.m. The Parade proceeds west on Front Street to Lee Street, south on Lee Street to Wood Street and west on Wood Street to the Miller Park entrance.
The Parade is sponsored by the over century-old Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly (AFL-CIO), the central labor council for all AFL-CIO unions in McLean, Livingston, DeWitt and Logan counties.
Here is the registration form for parade participation. The Assembly retains the right to approve applicants.
