2019 SI CLC Scholarships

The Southern Illinois Central Labor Council is offering $500 scholarships to a Union member or dependent of a member (spouse, child, stepchild) in good standing with a Local Union that is affiliated with the S.I. C.L.C.  The member must remain in good standing until the time the award is presented in order to be eligible to receive a scholarship.

Applicants must be a high school senior, graduated high school with a “C” average or be a continuing student maintaining a “C” average and submit a transcript verifying grades or a GED certificate.  Applicants must be attending full-time, or accepted to attend full-time, an accredited college, university, community college, approved trade school or George Meany Inst. at the time the award is presented. They will also be asked to write an essay, with a minimum of 1200 words, on the Labor topic listed on the application as well as create a social media graphic on the subject matter.

The Labor topic this year will be:

“EXPLAIN WHAT MIGHT BE THE IMPACT TO LABOR OF THE RECENT

ILLINOIS LAW INCREASING THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 AN HOUR.”

The DEADLINE for this year's applications is June 30th, 2019!!!
