Hours after Donald Trump announced an agreement to end the shutdown in which he got nothing, the Central Coast Labor Council and AFGE 1260 held a press conference condemning the President's shutdown in which he held workers hostage for 35 days.  In fact, the workers still haven't been paid and are still in danger of having the government shut down on them in less than 3 weeks.

Thank you to the 15 Labor unions from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties who came out in solidarity to send a message to President Trump that our workers are not hostages to be held as bargaining chips in negotiations over petty, partisan politics.  Thank you to Congressman Salud Carbajal for taking part and speaking to the workers whom you have defended through this whole process.

This process however, isn't complete.  The agreement, while a relief for our brothers and sisters, is only temporary.  The current stop-gap agreement expires on February 15. In 18 days, Trump may decide once again to hold us hostage.  In that case, we will fight harder.
