8th Annual NWPA ALF Golf Outing in Review

The weather channel had predicted rain for our event just 7 days out but, luckily they were wrong. Actually we had great weather for golfing at one of Pennsylvania's top 10 public golf courses, Whispering Woods Golf Club; Registration began at 10:00 am with a 10:30 a shotgun start.  Thank you for sponsoring or attending our 8th Annual Golf Outing and truly making it a success.

We started our day with doughnuts, juice and coffee.  In their golf bag of goodies given when they registered was a sleeve of golf balls, an apple, golf tees, candy, chips or pretzels and the program booklet.  Their carts were ready for them to begin their 18-holes of golf and the weather was great. Beverages were available from the cart which toured the course.

John Kluck a union member, activists, caterer and candidate for HD 64 graciously offered, donated, and served the sausage, pepper and onion sandwiches, chips and macaroni salad at the turn. Everyone reported how good it was and that the temperature was perfect.

Our 1st place team was Venango-Clarion CLC, 2nd Place team was IUOE 66 and 3rd Place was IAFF 293. Longest Drive was won by Darrell Niemenski, Longest Putt was won by Bob Buzzard and Closest to the pin was won by Greg Wilhelm, we congratulate them all.

.We had special prizes donated by Rudberg Law,  American Income Life and many items were donated by USW District 10 and we thank them all. We also purchased other prizes and as a result every golfer received a door prize. Normally we do several additional things at our Golf Outing a 50/50 Raffle this year valued at $190.00 was won by Thomas Holsinger. We had a Fire Pit Raffle this year which raised $106.00 in profit as the item was donated.

Our event concluded with a steak dinner with all the trimmings which was catered by O’Charlie's and enjoyed by all. True to our tradition of being inclusive and treating everyone the same, those with special diets like gluten free and vegetarian also had food prepared special for them throughout the day.

Each year, we split our proceeds with the 4-Food Warehouse Distributors in our 19 county areas We are blessed with wonderful and generous people who join us every year, as well as numerous sponsors. It is because of all of you that we were successful. We thank you for their sponsorship, participation and generosity.
