Siblings, we did it!
Last Fridays Napa Solano Central Labor Council’s 7th Annual Spring Salute Awards Reception was a huge success! I think that we did a great job of honoring our award recipients and we could not have done it without all of you that showed up to make sure that they all knew how much we appreciate what they do for working men and women.
Whether you were a sponsor of the event, volunteered to set up and tear down, donated and set up the stage, provided and served the food, worked on the presentation, provided the beverages or just walked around and made sure everyone felt at home, we could not have done it without you! And just like every event we do, it seemed like everything came together in the end and I think everyone would agree it seemed like a family outing where everyone belonged, felt welcomed and truly enjoyed themselves!
But we know that there is a lot of effort that goes into making an event look seamless so I want to recognize some Sibs that helped make it special:
Our Napa Solano Central Labor Council Executive Board who work so hard all year round on behalf of our members (and sign my check) and helped plan the event and to the Mare Island Museum and Lennar for arraigning for the wonderful venue.
Our new Organizing Intern Daniel Espinoza. We had just brought him on board when we threw him into the deep end of pool, informing him that he was in charge of making sure it was a success. He was helped by Angela Molina from the Sheetmetal workers who made sure he stayed on track. Board members Brad Meyer, Fred Davenport, Ken Miller, Dustin Baumbach, Brett Risely, Sam Green and our new office manager May Plata stepped up and help handle the crowds and Danny Bernardini from the Building Trades stepped up and helped make sure the final touches were not overlooked. It truly was Working People Standing Together to make this event happen.
Congressman Mike Thompson, who along with Assembly Woman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Solano County Supervisor Erin Hannigan, presented our award recipients their plaques and resolutions.
Firefighters Local #1186 who stepped up big time, providing the beer and wine for the event. They also acted as our celebrity bartenders ensuring everyone had beverages and were in a good mood.
The young Democrats of Solano County who provided several volunteers to help out throughout the entire event. They showed up early and were the last to leave and we could not have done it without them. They also wanted to extend their appreciation to you all for your generosity by being great tippers! We donated the tips to their club to assist them in going to convention.
To Corey Penrose and G Anthony Phillips for all the hard work promoting the event and putting on the program. Brother G was able to get our newest affiliate IATSE #107 to donate the stage and special shout out to Omar and his gang for setting up and tearing it down, Great work Sibs!
And of course, we must thank La Charita Market for providing us with the great meal and Grep Shoepp and Serena from Vallejo Holistic Health Center for setting it all up. Wheeler Sonoma Printers, our union printer, once again provided the printing of the invites and program for the event. We thank Mark Bauder and his team for stepping up to the plate.
I know that I am forgetting someone or something but want everyone to know proud we were to be able to put on a first-class show. But the most important thank you of them all is the Siblings that we presented awards to! Without their dedication to the Working Men and Women of Napa and Solano County we would not have the solidarity needed to move our issues forward. Please take a moment to reach out and thank them all.
A special shout out to Nester Aliga, whose wife Rozanna won an award, provided medals to all the veterans who were in attendance! Mike Thompson, a veteran himself was more than happy to assist in handing them out but even more so to receive one himself.
Below is a list of our award winners and of course our sponsors, without whom we could not have honored our Siblings. If you see one of them, please let them know how proud we are of them.
