Organizing with our allies is ALWAYS the answer!

When the idea of a non-union charter school offering virtual vocational education (yes, the trades, taught entirely over the computer) was pitched to the Solano County Board of Education, we went to work to get rid of it.  Using the relationships we've developed as a result of our affiliation with the Napa Solano Central Labor Council, the friendly electeds on the board heard our concerns and, not only voted the non-union charter down, but blocked them from appealing the decision. In fact, we were so organized that, when the folks behind the charter saw us enter the room, they left.  Yes, you heard that correctly, they didn't even stay around to defend the idea of teaching the trades entirely over the computer, they just tucked their tail between their legs and ran away.
