Napa Solano CLC Update
Momentum Building in Napa
Napa Solano CLC Retreat: Our long-awaited CLC Executive Board Retreat will take place on January 27 th  at the CTA Headquarters. More information to follow. Napa Working Families Coalition: Last week’s meeting was our best attended yet with community allies from Jobs for Justice and the Napa Democratic Club joining us for the first time. We identified that the scheduled Women’s March in Napa was a perfect place to start building community we could all be proud of.Many us have attended the public meetings on the Napa Civic Center Project and we discussed next steps and how we can best ensure our issues are addressed. Meetings with the developer and Labor are continuing and the Napa citizens seem to very aware of the many issues impacting them in this project from affordable housing to wage disparity. We will keep everyone up to date on how you can become involved. Queen of the Valley Injunction: Last week we notified you of the awesome victory the workers at the Queen had when the Court sided with them to direct the Hospital Management to allow for the workers to collectively bargain. This included a public apology and the first scheduled negotiation session. We then learned that there had been a temporary stay in the decision. NUHW is confident that it will be denied, and they can move forward with talks however it only exemplifies the anti-worker attitude at the Queen as they appear to be waiting for a silver bullet from the Trump Administration and Supreme Court to finally rid them of those pesky Unions! Stand by for News Elite Charter School: A special shout out to all our friends who showed up to the Solano Board of Education meeting on the Elite Charter School application. The Board will decide on the issue at the January 10 th  meeting and we urge everyone that is concerned with how privately run unregulated Charters impact our already struggling public schools and how we need to recognize the need for change without taking resources away from our most vulnerable students.’-Siblings at your CLC
