Siblings,

I want to encourage those of you who are registered Democrats to consider taking part in the ADEM elections that will be held on Jan 12 and 13. Many labor activists are vying for this position as a delegate to the California Democratic Party Convention.

ADEM delegates from the 80 California Assembly Districts make up 1/3rd of the delegates at the Democratic Party Convention. They are also eligible to be appointed on the subcommittees of the California Democratic Party. These subcommittees include legislation, platform, resolutions, rules and several others.

Your vote for labor activists that will be on the ballot can help to direct the actions of these subcommittees and the CDP in general. Also, many of these delegates will be motivated to seek to be a delegate to the Democratic Party National Convention your vote can help insure that Labor members “are in the room where it happens”. (Thanks to Hamilton!)

AD4 election is 10 AM Jan 13 @ IBEW 180 and 10:30 AM @Veterans Memorial Center in Davis,

AD14 election is 10AM @ Jan 12 at Plumbers and Steamfitters in Martinez

AD11 election  is 10AM Jan 13 @ CTA in Fairfield.

Several of our Napa Solano Central Labor Council delegates and friends are candidates and they would appreciate your vote. There are several slates that have Labor in their titles or Labor friendly candidates on them and the Executive Board of the Central Labor Council will vet the slates and make a recommendation as to who we feel will best represent our values and whose past actions merit support from our Council. We will then make sure our members and community allies are aware of our “Labor Sibling Slate” and urge them to vote.

But the most important way to ensure representation is to show up, so please mark your calendars now. We will be sending out more specific information on the process and what to expect when you show up to vote in the near future.

 In Solidarity,

G. Anthony Phillips

President, Napa Solano Central Labor Council
