POSITION DESCRIPTION

The project coordinator supports training by promoting high road labor-management partnerships as the best approach to workforce development and good jobs. Working with the Executive Director, the project coordinator identifies and develops new resources to support workers in a changing economy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify and access public resources for union workforce and economic development projects;
  • Work with local and state partners to identify funding priorities and opportunities for new workforce and economic development initiatives;
  • Work with unions to avert layoffs and retain jobs;
  • When layoffs occur, connect unions to the state rapid response system and public resources available to help their members successfully transition to good jobs;
  • Work with Federation affiliates to increase their access to public funding;
  • Facilitate the development of high-quality training, education, and workforce development programs;
  • Develop, coordinate, and track grant related projects;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the program for WED’s annual conference;
  • Produce outreach materials to inform labor and the wider workforce development community of policy developments and best practices;
  • Conduct research and produce reports for general dissemination;
  • Draft and edit a variety of publications and reports;
  • Attend, track, and participate in local, regional and State workgroups, community based organizations and committees;
  • Public speaking and meeting facilitation;
  • Respond to affiliated union requests for support to advance their issues;
  • Represent the Federation at various meetings and events;
  • Participate in, organize, and convene various Federation/WED sponsored meetings and trainings;
  • Contribute website content and perform other marketing and communications duties;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
