Northwest Oregon Labor Council

Representative Earl Blumenauer came and spoke at our May 14, 2018 Executive Board Meeting.

CEO pay for major companies in the United States rose nearly 6% in the past year, as income inequality and the outsourcing of good-paying American jobs have increased. According to the new AFL-CIO Executive Paywatch, the average CEO of an S&P 500 Index company made $13.94 million in 2017—361 times more money than the average U.S. rank-and-file worker.

Take Action

Unions help build a better life for working people but the wealthy are trying to further rig the economic system in their favor. Show your support for unions.

We need strong protections against the deceptive and abusive practices of big banks and predatory lenders to prevent another financial meltdown. Tell your Senator to reject the Bank Lobbyist Act.

The Gresham City Council election is not until November 6th, we endorsed Councilor Mario Palmero.

And we received a nice email from Jennifer McGuirk, candidate for Multnomah County Auditor, who is in a runoff election.

I'm feeling really good about the primary, and am getting ready to get it in gear for the general. I absolutely know that I would not have done so well without the support of union families. I am so grateful for the NW Oregon Labor Council's support! I had several people tell me they voted for me because I was on your slate on the front of the NW Labor Press. I know these individuals represent many more who chose me because I stand with labor.

I will be grateful to continue to have the Council's support in this next stage of the campaign. I would be happy to meet with the Council in the near future, if you'd like, to talk about my strategy, get feedback from you, etc.
