Nabisco Boycott National Day of Action –Thursday, November 16th

As most of you know, we have been assisting the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union (BCTGM) Local 364 in waging a campaign against Mondelez (the parent company to Nabisco) on their policy of outsourcing U.S. based, union-made products (Oreo, Chips Ahoy, Ritz) to Mexico where they reportedly pay workers about $1 per hour. Mondelez is feeling the pressure and has recently announced it was replacing its CEO on November 1st.

As part of escalating pressure on the company and raising awareness about their outsourcing policies, Thursday, November 16th has been designated the Big Box Store National Day of Action by Rich Trumka and the AFL-CIO. The NW Oregon Labor Council and Oregon AFL-CIO have adopted a store and will hold a leaflet action outside of the Wal Mart store on 82nd Ave in Portland, 4200 SE 82nd Ave. from Noon to 1:00 PM.
