Albany - “Once again, Governor Cuomo did the right thing,” said Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO.

“His strong statement expressing opposition to and outrage at Charter Spectrum’s conduct shows his commitment to fight for what is best for all New Yorkers and his willingness to stand up for union members in this state.

New York’s Labor Movement denounces disgusting action
“As a lifelong Yankee fan and a proud New Yorker, I am disgusted the management of a team representing the strongest union town in America would choose a hotel where workers are on strike.

Albany - Today the 2.5 million member New York State AFL-CIO announced the endorsements of the following candidates running for office in the November 6, 2018 election:

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D) -- 18th Congressional District
Jonathan Jacobson (D) -- 104th Assembly District
Marianne Buttenschon (D) -- 119th Assembly District

Albany - “Working men and women sent a strong message tonight; they recognize that actions speak louder than words and that Governor Cuomo has demonstrated time and again that he will stand with organized labor and protect workers’ rights. I congratulate Governor Cuomo on his primary victory and look forward to getting our members back out to the polls in November to re-elect Andrew Cuomo as Governor of this great state.

Albany - "No amount of next-day-spin can change the fact that Cynthia Nixon simply fell flat in her first debate performance. She showed New York voters that she lacks the experience, judgement and vision to lead this state. She was no match for Governor Cuomo who has proven what it takes to be a great leader through action and deed and no amount of desperate attacks on cable news channels can change that."

Hempstead, NY – Earlier this evening New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento attended the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary Debate at Hofstra University and issued the following statement.

Albany, NY - “This is exactly what I would expect from someone who is working off the script of right wing conservative ideologues in Washington whose sole purpose is to vilify working people and their unions. Marc Molinaro predictably casts aside the vital role working men and women play, not just at the MTA, but to the economic well-being of our state. He would rather blame workers for subway repair costs than recognize New York's highly trained and skilled workforce is the only thing that keeps our state moving forward.”
