Today is the Deadline to Register to Vote in Pennsylvania. Take a moment to look now, be sure you are a registered voter, and that all your information is up to date and correct.

Thousands of Union Members across Pennsylvania have been working tirelessly to bring attention to great Labor candidates. County after county, from Allegheny to Reading, Montgomery to Lawrence.

Union sisters and brothers know better than anyone that we are stronger together. We all have our differences, but the tireless fight for workers is something we all have in common.

The Administration and Offshoring

When companies conduct business overseas to avoid fees and taxes in a country, it is called ‘offshoring.’ The Trump Administration, through the Tax Cut and Jobs Act, has encouraged offshoring. Between 2016 and 2018 the United States lost 1,800 factories and since February 2020 alone we have lost 740,000 manufacturing jobs.

Bob Kutz leads a life in service to his Union sisters and brothers, the city of Altoona, the Blair-Bedford Labor Council, and our entire Nation.

After getting his degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State, "Uncle Sam came knocking," Bob said. That led to a year of active duty during the Vietnam War and five years with the United States Army Reserves in Pennsylvania. When he was in the Reserves in 1970, he also began working as an Apprentice with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 5.

Coronavirus Stimulus

In March, many of us remember the CARES Act being passed to ensure that millions of workers across the United States would be assured Unemployment benefits. Despite the relief this provided to states, the Trump administration refused to continue to provide these necessary benefits to alleviate the stresses of the pandemic.

When the Supreme Court’s new term opens today, public attention will be focused on the furious and hypocritical effort of President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to ram through Judge Amy Coney Barrett as a replacement for the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the voters remove both Trump and McConnell from power.

The Trump administration cut public-sector organizing.

Today hundreds of members across the commonwealth worked for our endorsed candidates in Beaver, Erie, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, and York Labor Councils rockin’ the vote!
