Statement by Georgia AFL-CIO President Charlie Flemming on Rep. Carolyn Bordeaux’s Betrayal

“In the last election cycle, Georgia’s working families  turned out in record numbers to vote for leaders who would fight for their communities, for their livelihoods and for their own well-being. In September of 2020, we endorsed Rep. Carolyn Bordeaux. Rep. Bordeaux made a promise to working families in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District that she would fight for them and would vote for policies that will materially change their lives for the better. Not only did we endorse her, but our members made upwards of 583, 821 calls to 194,607 people in her district to make sure that she secured her victory. Now that the budget is up for a vote, Rep. Bordeaux is betraying Georgia’s working families by opposing the package and aligning herself with insurrectionists. We urge Rep. Bordeaux to change her stance and stand with working families by supporting the President’s Budget.”
