Delaware State AFL-CIO Hosting Two Community Events Labor Day Weekend

What: A church service and rally in support of workers’ rights Labor Day weekend.The Delaware State AFL-CIO is organizing two community events with its member unions, allies, and general public.
When: The church service titled “Labor in the Pulpit” will be on Aug. 31 at 9:30 a.m. The Labor Day Rally will be on Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.
Where: Labor in the Pulpit will be held at St. Daniels United Methodist Church, 10 North Stewart Street, Port Penn, DE 19731. The Labor Day Rally will be held at Rodney Square, 1000N Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
Why: Labor Day in the United States is a federal holiday that celebrates the contributions and achievements of American workers and the organized labor movement. Unions in Delaware are coming together to commemorate the progress organized labor has made for workers in the state.
Statement: “Labor Day is not just a holiday, it’s a living reminder of the generations of workers and unions who fought for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job,” said Nelson Hill, President of the Delaware State AFL-CIO. “By coming together in faith and solidarity this weekend, we honor their sacrifices and recommit ourselves to ensuring that working people in Delaware continue to have a strong voice in shaping our future.”
