Decatur Trades & Labor Assembly, AFL-CIO, are accepting applications for the Michael E. Shampine Memorial Scholarship.  The 2017 scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.00. 

Established by his union family to honor the memory of former CLC President, Michael E. Shampine, this fund is designed to provide a scholarship to an affiliated union member, or an immediate family member, who plans to enroll in continuing education. 

The scholarship will assist with enrollment in a degree program, qualified trades apprenticeship, or vocational school.  The ideal recipient will be recognized as having a desire to succeed by demonstrating strengths in leadership, community and political awareness.

Applications can be obtained (attached below) at the CLC website https://unionhall.aflcio.org/decatur - at The Community Foundation website www.endowdecatur.org or by calling scholarship chair, Amy Rueff at 217-433-5126.  The deadline for the application is March 31, 2017.   Interviews will be conducted on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

Decatur Trades & Labor Assembly is a central labor council of the AFL-CIO and is made up of 35 local unions representing approximately 13,000 union members and retirees in Macon County.
